Hi, I’m Emily Reed. My husband, three children and I enjoy living the small town life outside of Dallas. Our kids are a big part of our business. They help with handling exercises, daily puppy clean up, and run puppy curriculum with us. Penny and The Pups breeding program is run from our home, and all pups are raised here. Our home is small, but our hearts are BIG! In only 2 years, we have produced some of the best doodles in Dallas, and do not plan on stopping anytime soon.

Penny was our first pet, and the foundation dog of our breeding program. She has given us many healthy litters, and allowed us to build and grow a business. For this, she will always have a place in our home, and hearts!

We enjoy taking walks in our neighborhood, gardening, DIY projects, dancing for fun, and being involved in our church community.

How did you get into breeding?

I have always loved animals! As a young girl, I would bring home every stay dog or cat and post “found” flyers in the neighborhood. If I could not reunite them with their owners, I would find homes for them. I suffered from allergies as a kid, and didn’t know that Poodles and other hypoallergenic dogs existed. I decided to suffer through and live with my allergy symptoms until I got married and moved out of the house. My husband and I realized that without pets in the home, I was no longer chronically sick, so we made the hard decision not to have pets at all. After spending some time with a good friend, and her Poodle, I was surprised to find that I had NO allergic reaction. As soon as I made this discovery, 10 years into marriage with 1 kid, the hunt for a Poodle started.

We began breeding as a learning process for my oldest daughter, Amelia. At the time, she wanted to be a veterinarian, and I thought the breeding process would be a fun way to give her hands on experience. Well, if you know anything about me, it’s probably that I can’t do anything without giving it 100%. I dove in and found an amazing, supportive breeding community of ethical breeders. I started taking online classes and studying like crazy! The tools and resources I found, helped me become much more than a “backyard breeder”. As I continued to learn, and watch other breeders (some bad), I became passionate about QUALITY.

Turns out, breeding is something our whole family loves!

What makes your breeding program special?

  • We have a newsletters for families on our waitlist with photo updates, AND homework each week.
  • We educate, and prepare our families for bringing a new puppy home because we know it is a huge transition.
  • We also offer LIFETIME breeder support to all of our families.

Our puppies are raised on the Badass Breeder Curriculum. We do Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and temperament testing before placing each puppy in a new home. Our puppies get daily sounds desensitization, handling exercises, and socialization. Many of our puppies have been successfully placed as therapy & service dogs.

These things, combined for our passion for continued education, makes our program stand out about the rest.

We look forward to matching you with the perfect pup to fit your lifestyle and family.
